We all know how important articles are in today’s websites - be it a personal website, portal or business website. Articles play an essential role in the success of one’s website and is a key driver of traffic to it. Often, the value of a good article easily translates into a successful site and ultimately profits. So any savvy webmaster will know have the good sense to include articles in his or her site that will work for them so that they can earn them the many benefits articles can give to their site.
Ever since some Internet Marketing guru opened up the secrets to article marketing, many people know that articles are a prime driving force of traffic to the website. Articles are also a factor in getting a site high rankings in the popular search result pages. The higher a site ranks, the larger a slice of the traffic flow pie he gets. A natural result of this surge in traffic is more profits and potentially, income from other generating schemes as well.
However, to be truly effective, it is not just to stuff your site with loads and loads of articles. Four essentials must be fulfilled so that you can reap the maximum benefit of your articles.
Here are the 4 essentials you must keep in mind before you even start to write any article… and make sure you incorporate them into the article. Without these 4 tips, your articles will never be successful in helping to make your site a profitable and traffic overflowing site.
• 1st Essential - Keywords and Keyword Phrases.
All good article must always be based on keywords and keyword phrases. Visitors who land at your website without prior knowledge of your site are usually browsers, searching for a specific something. When this happens, a searcher usually goes to a search engine and types in the keywords they are looking for (e.g. Porsche Carrera, Migraine, Insurance Agents and Etcetera). It could be anything they want.
So, the important thing is to ensure your article has the keywords that are related to your site. For example, if you maintain an auto parts site, you must have access to articles about cars and their parts. The easiest way to discover what keywords and keyword phrases are mostly sought after online is to use the many tools available on the internet. Just use this tool to decide what keywords to use and write about.
• 2nd Essential - Keyword Density
Once you know which keywords and keyword phrases you are targeting, you need to concentrate on keyword density. An article must have a good keyword density for search engines to take note of it. Articles should aim for a ten to fifteen percent of keyword density in their content. So when the search engines come calling, they will rank a site higher in their search results because of what they see in the articles on a site.
What is Keyword density? It is the number of times a keyword or keyword phrase is used on an article. The number varies depending on the number of words used in an article. An effective article must have a keyword density that is not too high or too low. While keyword denisty is important, don’t purposely stuff your articles with the same keywords and keyword phrases so that you have a very high keyword density score. This will make your article unreadable and even turn off your visitor from surfing to your site! A too low number may caused the article to be ignored by the search engines.
• 3rd Essential - Good Article Content
The purpose of any article is to provide good content and be read. If you stuff an article with keywords, it is unreadable. Articles must be regarded as good reading materials. It should entertain people as well as provide good information and help for their needs.
All your articles should be written well and pay attention to correct spelling and good grammar. Your article is a representative of you and your site. If you want people to trust you, make your work good and well thought out.
People respond well to specific figures, facts and statistics. Getting these and including it in your article shows you know the subject matter well. A good and well written article will boost your reputation as an expert in your chosen field or topic. As more people trust you for good information, they will be able to trust you and your products or recommendations.
• 4th Essential - Linking Articles
The last essential is also the most important. If you are going to submit articles to ezines or contribute them to newsletters and other sites, DON’T ever forget to include a link to your site. This is usually in the form of a little resource box where you can include a brief description of your site. This resource box is always placed right after your articles that you have submitted. If people like your articles, they will most likely click on the link directing them to your site.
If you do not provide a link, your readers will never know what else you have and how else you can help them. So make sure your link is there.
